The thrilling new Latitude 30 houses an unmatched amount of entertainment that is almost more than one night can handle. Inside the new-age venue, a movie theater, bowling alley, arcade, fine dining, and sports bar all compete to be the main activity of the night. Each exciting possibility meets expectations with a level of sophistication seldom seen in Jacksonville’s entertainment scene. After an $11 million renovation of the former Toys R Us building located at 10370 Phillips Highway in southeastern Jacksonville, one would expect something monumental to emerge. A location containing such a large amount of entertainment is on the crisp edge of new-age entertainment centers.
The location opened its doors in mid-December, however the theater is scheduled to open in Spring 2011. So far Jacksonville’s newest entertainment center boasts more than 900 guests booked parties during the winter holidays. With such a wide array of choices, the cost varies significantly for each activity. As most activities are offered on a first come, first serve basis, the building fills up early and quickly. Latitude 30 is open from 11 a.m. Sunday through Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Sunday through Wednesday the venue stays open till 12 a.m., Thursday through Saturday till 2 a.m. When you prepare to have fun at your fingertips, you do need to dress appropriately. Casual dress is encouraged, but things such as sleeveless shirts or offensive tattoos and clothing are prohibited. While the location appeals to college students, families, and all age groups, if you are younger than 21 years old, your night ends at 10 p.m.
Overall, the experience has been related to Dave and Buster’s, but Latitude 30 is really unlike anything Jacksonville has offered. Don’t hesitate to bring large groups. The more the merrier, as no one will be bored with so many different activities. Parking, however, is very difficult and lines are long so arriving early is strongly advised, however the experience inside will have you coming back the next weekend. No matter how solid you plan, you won’t be able to experience the full entertainment center. It is simply not possible to fit all the fun Latitude 30 offers into one night.
